Mission:
South Freeport Congregational Church is a strong community of all ages who come together to share the love of God in a atmosphere of learning, discovery, and service. We are one body in Christ, acting both individually and in groups. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, and with mutual trust, our mission is to be a source of worship, education, service and healing. We do this for ourselves, our church, our community, and the larger world, thereby increasing and celebrating the Glory of God.
We Welcome Everyone:
The bell in the tower of the South Freeport Congregational Church has been ringing each Sunday morning since 1857 calling people to worship and welcoming all people, young and old, educated and less educated rich and poor, sinners and saints to participate in the life of our church. As times have changed, so has the outward reach of our church to include people of all races, denominations, and orientations.
In harmony with the message of Jesus Christ:
"Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned;
forgive and you will be forgiven" (Luke 6:37), we designate ourselves to be an
Open and Affirming Church to all experiences and backgrounds.
We welcome all people of any race, gender, nationality, ethnic origin, physical or mental ability, sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression. We support full participation of everyone in the life and programs of this church. We recognize the rights of all persons, just as Christ accepted all people he encountered. We believe that in meeting each other in Christian love, God's spirit frees us all to give, to grow, and to be ourselves.
Through prayer and encouragement, we support the settled pastor in his or her decisions and courses of action in welcoming all persons into the life of our church.
As people of God and a Christian congregation, we strive to live out the words in our statement by offering warm hospitality to all who come into our midst and by recognizing the worth and dignity of each person who enters our doors.
Sunday morning worship is at 9:30 am, except on Easter.
On Easter our worship services are at 6:00 am (Town Dock) 9:00 am and 11:00 am.
We are located at 98 South Freeport Road,
South Freeport, Maine.
