- Mission Moments during the Sunday service inform the congregation about the various organizations for which we provide money or services. In 2016 we heard from representatives from Tedford Housing, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Salvation Army, Oasis Health Services, Center for Grieving Children.
- South Freeport Church provides a meal on the second Friday of each month for the adults at the Tedford Shelter in Brunswick. Individuals and church committees sign up to provide a meal. We encourage individuals, families, and neighborhoods to contribute to this worthy effort.
- In June 2016, the committee awarded scholarships of $1000 each to two Freeport High School seniors. There is now no money left in the scholarship fund and no current plan to refund, continue or alter it. The future of the scholarship fund will be discussed at the next annual meeting.
- The SFCC operating budget allows for The Mission Committee to give up to $2000 in Outreach donations to organizations and causes of its choice. This year contributions were divided between Freeport Community Services, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Salvation Army, Seeds of Independence, Center for Grieving Children, and Tedford Housing.
- In addition, collected funds and special plate offerings allow for contributions to Daffodil Sunday ( American Cancer Society), Blanket Sunday (Church World Service), One Great Hour of Sharing (UCC), and Neighbors in Need (UCC).
- Many clothing items were donated to Preble Street Resource Center and Grace Street Ministry. Estimated value includes Tedford meals ($1500), FCS Holiday Helpline gifts for four familes/ 11 individuals/ 17 items ($300), calendars for Freeport Nursing Home residents ($200), Thanksgiving food items for FCS ($400), and weekly food panty items for FCS. An estimation of donations of warm clothing to both Preble Street shelter and Grace Street Ministry is $3000.
- The Christmas Eve offering of $1368 was divided between Oasis Health Center in Brunswick and the Carol Kaplan Fuel Fund in Freeport.
